[AD] I was invited by the team to visit the refreshed Chatsworth Farm Shop. I was already a huge fan of this place so was interested to see what had changed at this veritable foodie paradise.

Fresh new feel
Originally established by Duchess Deborah in 1977, Chatsworth Farm Shop has recently enjoyed a refurbishment led by Lady Burlington in partnership with Sheffield-based, 93 ft Design Studio. The sustainable new design features heritage items from the estate including upcycled fixtures and fittings, for a contemporary, luxe yet inviting feel.

Quality, local produce
As ever, there’s hand-picked, high-quality produce sourced directly from the Chatsworth estate and trusted suppliers, many of whom are located within a 30-mile radius.
Whether you’re a local looking for a treat or a visitor to the Peak District, a visit to Chatsworth Farm Shop is a must for anyone with even a passing interest in good food. It’s one of the largest farm shops in Derbyshire – and probably one of the finest farm shops in England. Shopping here weekly is my actual goal in life.
Located in the pretty village of Pilsley, Chatsworth Farm Shop is actually a short drive (or cycle, or bracing walk) from Chatsworth House.

Multi award-winning farm shop
The estate farm shop boasts a dazzling array of high quality produce, including locally grown seasonal fruits, vegetables, plants and flowers.

There is an extensive craft butchers counter showcasing traditional butchery of estate-reared lamb, venison, beef and pheasant. I was fascinated by the display of dry aging estate beef. A specialist fridge controls both temperature and humidity to yield a rich, buttery taste. Chatsworth’s butchers can reserve meat to your liking, whether that’s the recommended 45 days or not.

It was this high level of skilled and personalised service that I particularly rated. A butcher cut fillet steaks precisely to order, and I loved choosing exactly what I wanted from the delicatessen, aided by knowledgeable and friendly staff.

The fish counter at Chatsworth Farm Shop boasts freshly caught fish from British waters.
There’s freshly baked bread and handmade patisserie. Much of the bread is made on site at the farm shop by skilled bakers who work overnight using tried and tested recipes. Speciality sourdoughs are produced by Wye bakery in Bakewell, just over a mile away.

Supporting local artisan producers
Quality artisan produce directly from the estate includes Brock & Morten’s cold-pressed oils, locally sourced honey, and Peak Ales award-winning micro-brewery. There’s also the iconic Hendos (Sheffield’s answer to Worcestershire sauce).

The well-stocked deli includes a cheese counter of dreams (featuring over 100 different varieties), freshly prepared salads, olive bar and a huge selection of homemade pies – plus a heaving cake counter.

There’s an extensive selection of craft ales, specially selected wines and spirits infused with botanicals from the kitchen gardens at Chatsworth.
It’s not just food and drink either at Chatsworth Farm Shop. Shop stunning sheepskin rugs or locally made candles, perfect for gifting.

Chatsworth Farm Shop café
After all that shopping, you’ll probably need a coffee. In addition to the café, there’s a takeaway coffee counter and a few al fresco seats to sit and watch the world go by.
The café itself enjoys stunning views across the estate. There’s a warm, friendly welcome and attentive table service. Seasonal dishes are served and there’s a monthly supper club.
