Sette Coffee is now closed – in its place is Little Gem Coffee and Cake.
AD – Despite being firmly tucked away, this little gem of a coffee shop has quickly established itself on the rotation of serious coffee lovers. Sette Coffee in Clay Cross in North East Derbyshire has garnered a great reputation for its sensational seasonal specials and offerings that are just a little leftfield of what every other café is doing. Case in point are Sette’s popular, and achingly Instagram-able pistachio lattes.

A proud independent, doing something exciting? I am HERE for it. So I was delighted to be invited to sample their new Charcuterie board – a permanent addition to Sette’s menu, but requires pre-ordering (just drop them a message on their social media).
I took my good friend Helen Rowan – so I have her to thank for much of the beautiful photography here. The first tick in our books was the free car park right outside.
Inside Sette Coffee

The décor at Sette Coffee is eclectically shabby chic, with mismatched furniture and a friendly, welcoming vibe. Despite the distinctively hipster menu, there’s no pretension here. In fact, the welcome couldn’t have been warmer and Richard (who owns the business with his partner, Steph) took a great deal of care in looking after us.
Barista Coffee

We were quickly furnished with well executed barista coffees and then there was a little wait for the food.

The Italian inspired Charcuterie board was absolutely laden with really high quality produce. The brie was both creamy and tasty, there was a good selection of premium cured meats including salami, truffle Parma ham, salty bresaola perfectly juxtaposed against sweet peach – plus a huge portion of plump, green olives, mini avocado toasts each with a sprinkling of feta and locally made breads. Honestly perfection!

It’s clear that the team at Sette know good food when they see it. I was genuinely blown away by the quality, the presentation, and the generous portion size. The service could not have been any friendlier.
Sadly we had to rush off for the school run. Factor in a bit of time to relax and enjoy the experience and this is a really unique place for a leisurely catch up with friends, particularly on a sunny day to sit in their pretty courtyard.
Look out for details of special events such as Bistro Nights, Italian Style Afternoon Tea including a starter of meats, cheese and olives, a choice of mini sandwich and then a selection of desserts including tiramisu and unlimited tea, coffee, hot chocolate or canned sodas for just £17.95 (pre-booking essential).

This is exactly the type of place I love to go for a coffee, somewhere a little bit different and not like the big chain coffee shops. It has persoanlity, seems really welcoming, and has amazing looking food and drinks. What a gem!
