Favourite Chesterfield Takeaways

Here’s the low down on the very best Chesterfield takeaways. No faceless chains, just lovely, local, independent restaurants offering delicious food for you to enjoy at home.

I originally wrote this during lockdown when a Friday night takeaway become a sacred part of our (otherwise highly uneventful) week. However, it was fully updated in August 2022. Here’s my edit of the absolute best restaurants in the local area offering food for collection and/or delivery. The very best Chesterfield takeaways! It’s not just fast food either, there’s everything from gastro pubs to high end dining.

My current favourite place for takeaway in Chesterfield

Somewhere that is relatively new, but has risen straight to the top of my go-to places for takeaway in Chesterfield is The Bradbury Bar and Bistro located on Chatsworth Road in Brampton. They are above Nonnas so you might not have seen them. This is a brilliant place to eat in too, but for the convenience of takeaway find them on Just Eat.

One of the things I really like about The Bradbury’s takeaways is the varied menu. I’ve not yet tried their breakfasts delivered but there’s a tempting brunch menu. There’s also some really unique dinner options such as jungle curry, chicken and taragon pie etc. I thoroughly recommend their trio of Yorkshire puddings as a Sunday roast takeaway. In fact, this is the only place where I’ve had an acceptable Sunday dinner from.

Best Chesterfield takeaway for pizza

Pizza is probably my favourite food of all time. Pizza Pi is a great option for a Chesterfield takeaway. In addition to their gorgeous pizzas, there’s a range of garlic breads, a couple of other starters and loaded fries. The pizzas including lots of creative and slightly left field toppings. There’s also a full vegan menu. Find them on City Grab.

Turkish and Greek takeaways in Chesterfield

One of our favourite Chesterfield takeaways is our local Turkish restaurant, Afat’s Grill. I’ve found it offers the freshest, healthiest tasting takeaway food out of everywhere we’ve tried. Simple ingredients, cooked well. I tend to order the chicken grill for my main course – large chunks of succulent chicken breast served with the most perfectly cooked rice and a beautiful rainbow salad. A little hack – you can add free bread and olives to your order (under the ‘extras’ section of the menu). Afat’s are on City Grab and Just Eat.

We also sometimes order The Real Greek BBQ which is located on Chatsworth Road in Brampton in Chesterfield. I love the halloumi wraps and tzatziki. However, the menu is really disorganised and confusing – and depending on what you order it can be really greasy. We’ve also had issues with this one being late – but the last few times have been great.

Breakfast, lunch and healthy options from Chesterfield takeaways

A good option for the health conscious is Qoozies, a much loved Chesterfield institution which is usually serving up pancakes, smoothies and health food fast food style in its pretty restaurant.

You can collect in person or have it delivered via City Grab. We’ve tended to use Qoozies for a weekend breakfast treat. Having breakfast delivered has to be the ultimate indulgence and during lockdown I got totally addicted to their Biscoff and strawberry pancake. Sadly the pancakes are no longer on their takeaway menu, so my new addiction is The American panini (bacon, cheese and the most delicious red onion chutney on ciabatta). They do some good value deals, e.g. I tend to go for the breakfast sandwich and smoothie meal deal which is £6.45.

There’s also lots of lunch options. The salads are really fresh and packed with interesting ingredients (and fully customisable).

Steak takeaway

My husband and I have quite different tastes in food but somewhere we both enjoy is The Galleon Steakhouse. Saturday in our house is ‘Steak Saturday’ so this gets my hubby’s seal of approval. I can’t get my head around the idea of steak being delivered but there are loads of other options. I’ve particularly enjoyed the salmon with hollandaise sauce and herbed new potatoes. The deep fried brie starter is also pretty epic! Read my recent review of dining in and staying overnight at The Galleon Steakhouse.

Best Chinese takeaway in Chesterfield

After trying various different Chinese takeaway places over the years and generally finding them disappointing, I think the best Chinese takeaway in Chesterfield is Dynasty on Wheatbridge Road (near Chatsworth Road, Brampton). The food is just much better quality than at any other Chinese takeaway. However, they are really popular and sometimes the wait for deliver is insane.

Thai is one of my favourite cuisines and Thai Thai delivers via City Grab. I tend to get chicken satay and then a vegetable green Thai curry, both are excellent. Thai Pavilion at the top of Glumangate is also good and now delivers via Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Read my recent review of Thai Pavilion.

Indian takeaways in Chesterfield

I love Indian food, but my husband doesn’t so we don’t tend to order this very much. As yet I haven’t got an outright favourite, but everywhere I’ve tried has been perfectly nice, e.g. Delhi 41, Tiffin and Mint Leaf in Dronfield.
