22 Father’s Day Ideas from Derbyshire Small Businesses

Is your Dad as difficult to buy for as the men in my life? I find it so hard buying for both my own Dad and now my husband and father of my daughter. Hopefully this will help! I’ve sourced the very best gifts from a range of Derbyshire small businesses. I know lots of us are keen to buy small and local where possible (and if you’re not yet convinced, read my reasons for shopping local), so here are 20 Father’s Day ideas from Derbyshire small businesses. There’s only the very best here, at prices to suit a range of budgets.

Remember it’s always worth ordering sooner than later, particularly with anything handmade or personalised.

All of the small businesses are included her on their own merits. I have not been gifted or received any sort of payment – if they’re in here it’s because they’re fabulous local companies who I think need just a bit more exposure. (Edit – post publishing I have since received gifts from Woodsquare and Reap & Sow)

For those that drink, alcohol is often a very well received gift. Particularly if it’s from a quality, local producer. My go-to would be to visit the Reap and Sow Spirits Gin Shop in the pretty village of Barlow. Reap and Sow have developed so many different brands and flavours of not just gin but also limoncello (developed in association with the iconic Chatsworth Estate) and also vodkas. All hand produced with quality ingredients using traditional methods in small batches. Visit the shop and chat to Becky or Ade about their wonderful artisan products, or shop online. Read my review of the Derbyshire gin shop here.

The Courtyard Barn in Eyam is a wonderful shop full of gorgeous gifts, including over one hundred local beers! For something really special, there’s a gift set featuring The Coolstone’s own black gin and a handcrafted ceramic tumbler from a Wirksworth pottery. Read my review of The Coolstone here.

In Bakewell, there’s Rebel Drinks and in Ashbourne there is the wonderful House of Beer which stocks over 500 world, craft and traditional beers, ciders & small batch gins.

Gifts for Food Lovers

Woodsquare are based in Derbyshire, selling beautiful artisan products. Although the brand is based solely online, you may well have met founder Ieva exhibiting at local events, most recently at Haddon Hall’s spring Mercatum. Woodsquare specialise in stylish wooden chopping boards and other wooden kitchen accessories and utensils. Ieva paints the birds herself, but most of the products are made in the Baltics from five different artisan families, so the brand works as small co-operative. I particularly love the simple, wooden chopping boards that would be perfect for an indulgent antipasti or grazing board. Surely a perfect gift for a food loving father?
