[AD] Since its launch last year, Chatsworth Kitchen has set a new standard in relaxed, informal all-day dining – something I felt we were crying out for here in the Peak District – so it’s exciting to see the opening hours extended. It’d be a perfect date night destination or for a festive catch up with friends and family.
There’s all the relaxed rural charms of the Chatsworth Estate (locally sourced produce, stand out décor and thoughtful touches like fresh flowers on each table), coupled with the modern conveniences of ample free parking and being fully accessible both in terms of physical access for wheelchairs, pushchairs etc, dog-friendly (well behaved ones on leads) and catering to a range of specialist diets.
The new evening menu is served from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, but it’s also the sort of place you could go for a few glasses of wine, or coffee and a mince pie, especially to combine with a perusal of their lovely gift shop.

Having been invited to review the new evening menu at Chatsworth Kitchen, it seemed a perfect opportunity to catch up with my lovely friend and fellow PR consultant, Dawn-Elizabeth Rudd (who kindly took several of these photos). We kicked things off with a glass of prosecco, served in charming vintage style glasses.

To start we indulged in a generous grazing platter, laden with Parma ham, salami, huge wedges of brie and stilton, a deliciously piquant houmous, sweet balsamic with fruity olive oil and then a deliciously hot chilli oil with flaky bread sticks for dipping. There’s also a vegetarian option featuring falafels, olives and grapes.
One could happily enjoy just the grazing platter over a few festive drinks, but we were there for the whole shebang!

I decided upon the chicken, chorizo and mozzarella pizza, freshly baked in an authentic pizza oven and featuring large pieces of well-seasoned, tender chicken breast and rich, warming chorizo. Whilst my lovely companion opted for a classic carbonara.

We really didn’t need dessert, but in the interests of reporting back, I can confirm that the lemon tart, served with a berry compote, was wonderfully light and refreshing. The chocolate mousse looked equally good!

Throughout the evening, everything was beautifully presented and tasted divine. Service was exceptionally good and just the right level of attentiveness without being overbearing.
We had a wonderful evening. In addition to how lovely Chatsworth Kitchen is, the whole of Peak Village is decorated for Christmas and it felt really quite special to experience the beauty amidst the stillness whilst the shops were closed.
