For most Derbyshire schools, the Easter holiday falls from 4th April – 22nd April in 2025 but always check directly with your own school as dates, particularly of INSET days do vary.

Easter activities in Derby
Fossil Finders at Derbion, Derby
4th – 22nd April 2025
Dig, discover and piece together ancient dinosaur fossils. Hunt through the sand to uncover hidden bones, then work together at the assembly table to recreate a dinosaur skeleton! £2.50 per child – dress for dust! Book tickets.
The Choccy Woccy Easter Event, Bluebells Dairy Farm, near Derby
5th – 21st April 2025
Lots of Easter fun on the farm. Choccy Woccy unveils his latest invention in a fun-filled, interactive show, and watch mischievous Belgian Hare, Belgie, in a special show that’s packed with surprises! Bottle-feed baby lambs, meet the Easter Bunny and fluffy chicks and all the usual Bluebells fun including Easter themed ice cream flavours! Easter Egg Hunt at The Children’s Country House at Sudbury
11th April – 27th April 2025
Family friendly, nature-inspired activities. Explore the beautiful gardens of The Children’s Country House at Sudbury with a trail based on the Vernon’s history of travel and connections to the sea. Board the HMS Sudbury for a nautical and sea-themed Easter trail. £3.50 per trail which includes an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears and dairy or vegan and Free From* chocolate egg. Easter in the Peak District
Bakewell Bunny Trail
5th – 21st April 2025
FREE fun, family-friendly scavenger hunt that will take you on an adventure through Bakewell. Visit the Pudding Shop to grab your map then look out for the Easter egg posters across town – spot them in the windows of 23 participating shops, write them down, and solve the riddle on your map. Once you’ve cracked the code, hop over to the Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop to claim your free bunny-shaped gingerbread biscuit!
Easter at Chatsworth, near Bakewell
5th – 20th April 2025
A fun family day out including Fresh Water Explorer Sessions, Water Marbling and Paint Blowing Workshops, Play in the Pinetum, Family Trail, get crafty in the Farmyard, small animal handling and feeding, tractor and trailer rides, Easter egg hunts and more. Easter EGGtravaganza at Thornbridge Hall, Bakewell
7th – 21st April 2025
The Carriage House is transforming into an Easter Fun Zone packed with Arts & Crafts, Games & Film Club along with tasty treats and refreshments. Find all the decorated eggs around the gardens to win a prize. Plus the usual fun activities including the famous rubber duck fountain. All included with standard garden entry tickets, Adults £8, Kids £4, Under 3s FREE and save 20% when booked online. Dogs welcome.
Easter Adventures at Longshaw
29th March – 27th April 2025
Let imagination take flight and enjoy a fun-packed Easter trail celebrating Longshaw’s brilliant birds. With 10 activity stations located around Longshaw, there is plenty to keep you and your family busy this Easter holiday. Collect a trail from the Welcome Building, £3.50 per trail which includes an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears and dairy or vegan and Free From* chocolate egg.

Easter Holiday Fun at Matlock Farm Park
5th – 21st April 2025
Meet the lambs and fluffy chicks and enjoy sheep and ferret racing. Plus all the usual animal and playtime fun, including small animal petting, wallaby encounter, meerkat talk and feed and more!

Easter Trail at Carsington
5th – 22nd April, 10am – 4pm
Follow the Easter Bunny’s trail to find all the eggs and answer the questions to collect a prize (non-chocolate alternative prize available). £4 per sheet/prize. No need to pre book, pick up your trail sheet from the visitor centre. Fully accessible route. Parking charges apply.
Easter Holiday Fun at Heights of Abraham, Matlock Bath
7th – 20th April 2025
Enjoy a cracking new trail, the mystery of the golden eggs! Help Lady Lettuce to work out why the mysterious eggs emerged from the ground to earn your reward! Plus live music from Violinsit Arjay and Organ Grinder Matthew on Easter Weekend. Plus SEISM!C at the Great Masson Cavern, a spectacular new sound and light show. Book tickets.

Easter Egg Hunt at Calke Abbey
5th – 23rd April, 10am – 4.30pm (last entry 4pm)
Make your way along the choice of two trails and find ten spring-inspired activities for the whole family. Choose from the long trail which takes you around the Parkland and Calke Explore, where you’ll visit the bunny bootcamp and have a go at welly wanging. Or opt for the shorter, accessible trail suitable for little legs, exploring the Pleasure Grounds and Stableyards, with the opportunity to test your nose and discover hidden smells or count Easter bunny’s carrots. £3.50 per trail which includes an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears and dairy or vegan and Free From* chocolate egg. Easter Adventures at Hardwick Hall
29th March – 21st April 2025
Step into a world of tradition and play. With 10 activity stations to find, follow the barefoot trail before you leap into lively Maypole dances. Test your skill as you guide your ball safely down the chutes to mirror the age-old thrill of egg rolling. Then, gather around to “Spin a Yarn,” to build your own folklore tale.
For the bold and adventurous, a jousting tournament awaits—mount your trusty hobby horse and charge toward victory! Weave your way through the bunting maze and balance your egg in a spoon race, or adorn “Bess,” our Flowering Fool, with ribbons and blooms to mark the turning of the seasons. When it’s time for a moment of stillness, gaze at the clouds and reflect on the traditions that have shaped Easter celebrations for centuries. £3.5 per child includes bunny ears and a chocolate egg. Easter Egg Hunt at Kedleston Hall
14th April – 21st April 2025, 10am to 3pm
Enjoy 10 activity stations along the Short Walk which will get your nose twitching and your legs leaping. Budding actors can enjoy spring charades and young engineers can construct from the building blueprint. There’s plenty of competition too! The egg re-lay and bunny hop might put a spring in your step and give an excuse for all to get involved. After all your hard work, you can then reward yourself with a well-deserved chocolate egg. £3.50 per trail which includes an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears and dairy or vegan and Free From* chocolate egg.
Easter Extravaganza at Buxton Pavilion Gardens
18th – 21st April 2025
FREE event with over 50 stalls in the Octagon Hall and on the Promenade for all 4 days plus children’s entertainment. Food stalls, children’s rides, miniature train and boats on the boating lake. Some activities are weather dependent and incur a charge.
Easter Fun on the Farm at Croots Farm Shop, Duffield
12th April 2025
Get up close and handle a whole host of animals including Hattie the Hedgehog, snakes, giant rabbits, guinea pigs, lizards and several creepy crawlies. Meet the newborn lambs, Easter Egg Hunt Adventure including Cadbury’s egg, Easter Craft Station and take home a special handmade Easter keepsake. Book here.
