[AD] On Saturday I was kindly invited to one of the pop-up cafés at The Shed Space and Store. We enjoyed tea and cake in their relaxing, inspiring space and found out a little bit more about this Derbyshire gem.

The Shed Space and Store
Described as a ‘concept space’ The Shed is a lovely, creative environment for co-working, private hire, pop-up events and a small, intimate events space. They regularly run creative workshops.
In terms of the workshops, of particular interest to me is the monthly book club social, and although my own daughter is now a bit too old, the monthly Bambino Coffee Club would have been exactly the type of thing I would have loved to have discovered a few years ago. It’s a free to attend event where noise and toys are welcome, just buy refreshments. There’s also a monthly ‘yoga and brunch’. Booking is essential for all events.
Lifestyle store at The Shed
The Shed also plays host to a beautifully curated lifestyle store featuring a range of gorgeous independent brands, many of them local. It’s the perfect place for buying gifts. You can also shop the store online.

The Shed is run by mother and daughters team, Sue, Katy and Alex – all of whom were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Pop-Up Café at The Shed
On a fairly regular basis The Shed runs a pop-up cafés. These are a great opportunity to get together with friends or family and enjoy a relaxing few hours chatting over tea and cake. All the cakes were homemade and there was a tempting selection. It’s rare that I order Victoria sponge as I think they’re often disappointing (and I get lured by more extravagant flavours). But I just had an inkling that this would be good one. Well, it was exceptional. Light, fluffy sponge sandwiched with a generous amount of buttercream and strawberry jam. Just delightful. I also enjoyed my tea, particularly the beautiful mug it was served in. For me, that was the beauty of The Shed – simple pleasures, executed perfectly. Go check them out.

Go for:
Their carefully curated workshops, an inspiring co-working space and an intimate, bijou events space. And the tea and cake!
