Following a million pound renovation, this historic pub with stylish, chic brasserie is a seriously stylish destination for Derby foodies

[AD] The Pattenmakers Arms in Duffield is determined to become one of Derby’s most alluring foodie destinations. The pub has assembled a stellar cast of the brightest and most experienced hospitality staff – from Head Chef Ben who has worked at a range of award-winning establishments to General Manager, Silvio (who previously oversaw the food and drink offering on pop-star Gloria Estefan’s private yacht).

Their brand new evening menu launches this Friday (26th May) – and promises to be a delight for the senses.

Featuring the finest quality local, seasonal produce, starters include delights such as Whipped Ribblesdale Goat’s Cheese with beetroot textures and burnt onion granola and Duck and Pistachio Terrine with sour plum chutney and toasted brioche, followed by Rump of Derbyshire Lamb served with black garlic purée, baby beetroot and hispi cabbage or Pan Fried Fillet of Stone Bass served with pea and broad bean fricassee.

The Pattenmakers Arms are proud to support a range of local suppliers including steaks from the village butcher, Anthony Andrews, located just steps away from the pub. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free diets are all catered for.

The Pattenmakers Arms is a quintessentially English village pub, tucked away on the pretty backstreets of Duffield, just five miles outside Derby city centre. The history of the pub dates all the way back to the 1800s. Working with Derby based, Worcester Architects, local property developers, the Lidher family have given the historic pub a substantial renovation including a new outside area.

The traditional bar area features a showpiece Minton tile floor and is the perfect place to settle down with a pint of Pattenmakers Ale, the pub’s very own beer or an expertly mixed cocktail.

There’s a well-stocked bar and an expansive wine list – and freshly ground, barista coffees are served with the globally recognised Illy brand.

The chic brasserie style dining room is flooded with natural light, perfectly showcasing the colourful upholstery. This is a seriously stylish place to be – and be seen! It reminded me of The Ivy – and overall, the feeling is one of an upmarket, glamorous London establishment.
