The Lounge Ashbourne REVIEW

[AD] I was kindly invited to review an hour long facial and blow-dry at The Lounge in Ashbourne, a beautiful, boutique salon designed to help clients unplug from the stress of daily life. I didn’t need asking twice and have been looking forward to the appointment for weeks.

The Lounge consists of an upmarket yet friendly and welcoming contemporary salon in the heart of Ashbourne town centre. After fourteen years in their original location, The Lounge is now housed in the iconic old Bennetts building on Ashbourne high street (soon to have Bear coffee move in downstairs!) and so was very easy to find.

I was warmly welcomed by Emma, who heads up the beauty side of the business, and was immediately impressed with my surroundings which were clean, modern and tastefully decorated, incorporating plenty of period features of the historic building.

My Decléor facial began with a diagnostic back massage, designed to introduce the mind, body and soul into pure relaxation. It certainly did the job – before long my greatest concern was not dribbling – as I floated off in a little bubble of deep relaxation. Then a series of luxurious products were expertly massaged into my skin. The overall feeling was one of deep relaxation and pampering. The facial finished with me feeling on cloud nine – it was utterly divine.

I love the idea of a blow-dry after a treatment. Whilst in an ideal world we’d lounge around in our comfies allowing all those beautifully scented oils to fully seep into the skin and scalp – sadly most of us need to get back to the realities of daily life much quicker – and what better way to do so than with a shiny blow-dry. Natalie used Kevin Murphy products to wash and condition my hair, including a mini scalp massage and then, as I sipped a delicious cappuccino (so important to find a hair salon that serves great coffee), set about transforming my hair.

I left feeling on top of the world. I’ve been in a bit of a funk recently – but two hours in that gorgeous salon and I left feeling like a new woman. Ashbourne is a bit of a trek for me, but I would definitely return as everything about my experience at The Lounge was spot on.
