[AD] Newly opened, Noonology is a very welcome addition to the Buxton food scene. This delightful café bistro serves up a tempting array of fresh, colourful, healthy plates of food – plus a decadent choice of pancakes and waffles, alongside the most photogenic cocktails and mocktails.

The café oozes chilled, laid back vibes. Décor is eclectic – with neon signs, lots of flowers and colourful details. The staff are friendly, personable and incredibly welcoming – with attentive, swift table service.
I was warmly welcomed and then left to peruse the menu. There were several options that sounded utterly delicious – but eventually I plumped for the chicken burrito bowl. I was fascinated by its theatrical arrival, having been wood smoked. This beautiful dish was a feast for the eyes, with the pretty presentation and topped with edible followers – it was an utter delight for the senses. Moreish, tender, well-seasoned chicken breast was accompanied with a really generous portion of fresh, smashed avocado and crunchy, flavoursome salads topping perfectly fluffy steamed rice – and finished with a fried egg with a perfectly runny yolk.

Other options include poke bowls, sandwiches, burgers, pie of the day and salad. There’s a really tempting brunch menu, featuring unique options such as Pancake Benedict and Carbonara Scrambled Eggs – and a Full English breakfast is served throughout the day. There’s also plenty of gluten free and vegan options.

To accompany, I tried one of the mocktails, opting for Berry Burlesque, a delicious blend of ginger beer, lime juice, blackcurrant purée and berries.

My main course was so satisfying I really didn’t need dessert but I was seduced by the waffle and pancake menu – and eventually decided upon a white chocolate and strawberry concoction. Yet again the presentation was outstanding. I accompanied this with a well-made flat white. Noonology is a great place for coffee. There’s all the usual options plus speciality choices including turmeric lattes. Coffee is supplied by nearby Peak Bean – with Noonology’s signature blend available to purchase to make at home.
Other local suppliers include meat from a local butchers and fish from Buxton based R G Morris.
Everyone is welcome – its family friendly and very dog friendly – there’s even a dedicated ‘pawwww menu’ for dogs! There’s a really great value senior citizen menu (two courses for £8.95 or three for £9.95).
The combination of fantastic food in such a lovely, friendly setting is a winning combination – and it’s great to see such a unique offering in Derbyshire. I only wish I lived closer!
